Atlantic Gully Trail Walk (hilly terrain) With Dai Dayton

Description:

Atlantic Gully Trail Walk (hilly terrain) With Dai Dayton: This free program is for adults, teens, and children ages 10 and older

Walk Leader: Dai Dayton, President, Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt

Join Dai for a moderately-paced 3 mile walk down a steep incline into Southampton’s most peculiar trail system and then up again for dramatic views of the Atlantic Golf Course and the ocean beyond. The Atlantic Golf Course, a private members club, was designed by legendary golf course architect Rees Jones and opened in 1992 with eyes on the environment . It is the natural habitat of the tiger salamander and the northern harrier, a member of the Accipitridae family, and the only harrier in North America. “Wetlands, deep kettle ponds and distant ocean views were preserved through the most comprehensive environmental study ever done for a golf course.” according to LONGISLAND.COM.
