Hallockville Museum Farm is offering two, six-session beekeeping courses that begin on Saturday, October 30 and meet on the following Saturdays: 10/30, 11/13, 12/4 12/18/ 1/8 and 1/22. into mid-January. The classes will be taught by Master Beekeeper Chris Kelly of Promise Land Apiaries.
• Beekeeping 101 is an introductory class designed to give students a working knowledge of bee biology and equipment. It will prepare students to start their own hives. Beekeeping 101 classes meet from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
• Beekeeping 201 is intended for students who have previously completed Beekeeping 101 and have some experience with beekeeping. This class will cover winter challenges, swim management and hive increases; inspection protocols and beekeeping technology. Beekeeping 201 classes meet from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The fee for each six-session course is $325 for nonmembers, $275 for Hallockville members. Interested persons may go to www.hallockville.org for further details and to register for the class.
