This classic film tells the stories of the Morgans, a hard-working Welsh mining family in the South Wales Valleys during the late Victorian era. Told through the eyes of the youngest child Huw, we learn of the trials and tribulations of the close-knit family of five brothers and one sister, and the parents’ hope that the youngest will find a better way of life. The film, directed by John Ford, also starred Maureen O’Hara and Roddy McDowall. It was nominated for ten Academy Awards, winning five, famously beating the film Citizen Kane for Best Picture.
