Evergreen Plants in Winter Walk

Description:

Evergreen Plants in Winter Walk: This program is for adults, teens, and children ages 8 and older.

Walk Leader: Melanie Meade, SOFO Education and Outreach Coordinator

Deciduous trees lose their leaves when winter comes, which leaves their branches looking bare and dead. But evergreens like pine and holly trees, and some forest plants, don’t drop their leaves or needles. They stay green all winter. Pitch pine and red cedar trees are easy to notice but other winter greens, like the tiny striped wintergreen, are a little harder to find. We’ll see all these different evergreen plants on a walk along a woodland trail and learn where they grow and how to identify them.

There is a $15 fee for Adults and $10 fee for children for this program. This program fee will also provide non-members with free admission to the museum on a day of their choice. Members are free.

Advanced reservations are required for all events. To register for this program, please contact us at info@sofo.org or call 631-537-9735.
