You asked for it, so here it is! Outdoors again! Folkie Fest is heading out to Moriches Field Brewery raising voices and glasses to salute the music of Bob Dylan. This will be an evening of familiar and original music outdoors in the Moriches Field Brewery garden. Big shout out to Rich Flynn and Moriches Field Brewery for hosting this very special Folkie Fest. There will be a variety of brews and for the non-beer drinkers there are other choices, including wine and cider. For a tasty bite to eat there will be a food truck as well.
Performing at this unique show will be Kerry Kearney, Shecky & the Twangtones duo, Fred Raimondo with Greta Quezada, the Butterfly Cody duo, Visco & McNeil, and the Karpenteers duo.
We are departing from our usual format by enjoying some more familiar favorites in an outdoor setting. Folkie Fest offers an ongoing concert series with local acoustic artists in the spirit of folk music as envisioned by the late Pete Seeger. We provide a listening space and support live, local, singer/songwriters sharing their original work. A 50/50 raffle will be held to benefit Long Island Cares: The Harry Chapin Food Bank.
Kerry Kearney, a slide guitar master, plays and works his instrument to limits that amaze even the most seasoned musician or cultured music fan. The sounds Kerry creates from his vintage, stock and custom made guitars are as unique as his song writing and original melodies. Kerry Kearney’s style, music from the “Psychedelta”, is his own brand containing an upbeat mix of American Blues & Roots, created from writing and performing on the circuit for over 40 years. Along with his band, he has continued to experience an overwhelming and positive response over the airwaves and especially when performing live.
Two Hearts, Two Voices. Singing songs and telling stories the musical partnership of Fred Raimondo and Greta Quezada. Fred Raimondo is a an accomplished singer-songwriter based on Long Island’s East End. He is a regular performer at many of the Island’s musical venues including clubs such as the Stephen Talkhouse, 89 North and 230 Down as well as many songwriter showcases and house concerts.
Henry and his wife, Kristi are part of the popular “Karpenteers” tribute to the Carpenters, are performing as duo for this special Folkie Fest. Henry Diaz is a guitar/bass player and singer/songwriter from Suffolk County He has done everything from solo performances to 8 piece bands, entertaining audiences throughout the Tri-state area. He and his wife Kristi run 2 Worlds recording studio and have recorded/produced three full length albums and a remake of the 1985 hit, We Are The World. He is currently working on an original album of mixed vocal and instrumental pieces for piano and guitar. One of his instrumental pieces has already become the latest Folkie Fest Theme song.
Chris Visco and Pete McNeill are both retired high school teachers. Chris was a science teacher, and Pete a physical education teacher and track coach. They both began their musical careers separately in the 1970's while in college, doing the "Coffee House" scene. Although they continued to be interested in their music, it wasn't until their recent retirement that they met, and began performing again. They play of variety of music, but central to their sound are their acoustic guitars, blending rhythms and leads with great songs and harmonies. They have both written a wealth of original songs which they love to share with their audience. Many of these originals can be found on their recently released album, "I'm not so old".
Sharon and Douglas Attridge have been performing locally with "Butterfly Cody Experience" and "The Lindsay Reeve Band", playing classic and original music with an eclectic twist Visit the Butterfly Cody Experience Facebook page.
This acoustic duo known for retro surf, reggae & soul jam music are exploring their folkie side. These seasoned musicians that draw on a variety of influences with skill and enthusiasm and are guaranteed to have you singing along with your toes tapping.
