FREE LAUNDRY is founded on the legacy of Asian immigration to the US, laundry shops have often been a default means for families to support and build their homes and futures. With an inspirational nod to the novel FREE FOOD FOR MILLIONAIRES by Min Jin Lee, the core grouping of artists who are assembled here live and work in Korea. All of the artists, regardless of their location, race, gender or sexual preference, have vested practical connections to the AAPI community and in their artistic practices share a reverence for Asia as a region, and as a source of inspiration. This project would not be possible without the collaborative efforts of the artists, the galleries and the owners of Meurice Garment Care who have offered their space to display these beautiful and meaningful pieces.
A percentage of ALL sales from the night will be donated to AAPI organizations throughout NYC to help #stopasianhate
