Get Buzzy, Help Save Our Bees: This family program is for children ages 6 and older.
Program Leader: Emily Zabusky, SOFO Environmental Educator
Join SOFO Environmental Educator Emily in learning about the importance of our native bees and how to attract them. During this program, we will also be constructing bee houses to help attract bees to your home gardens.
In the state of New York there are around 400 species of bees! Our native bees play a very important role in our ecosystem. They keep plant communities healthy and productive. Without bees we would have no fruits or vegetables that we eat daily. That’s because bees pollinate a majority of the crops that we grow. Our native bees are already on the list of endangered species, which means there’s no bringing them back once they’re gone. So please help and do your part in saving the bees.
There is a $15 fee for Adults and $10 fee for children for this program. This program fee will also provide non-members with free admission to the museum on a day of their choice. Members are free.
Advanced reservations are required for all events. To register for this program, please contact us at info@sofo.org or call 631-537-9735.
