Come visit the museums at the Hampton Bays Historical Society located on Montauk Highway. The Prosper King House , circa 1790, has been restored to its original purpose as a home. Displays include: antique furniture, china, baymen tools, decoys, and more! The world famous Lyzon Hat Shop Museum was a thriving millinery business from the 1920's through the 1960's established by Walter King. Mr. King, educated at Pratt Institute, was a renowned milliner known for his creative, fanciful, and bespoke hats. His clientele were the wealthy women who frequented the East End of Long Island. The museum has a collection of over 100 original Lyzon hats. This building also features beautiful interior architecture, murals, and a grand staircase which created an elegant venue for Mr. King's customers.
