Constructed originally as barracks for the Coast Guard during World War II, the famed artist, Ralph Carpentier helped transform the building into the East Hampton Marine Museum in the 1960s. During the Tour, you’ll hear about Carpentier’s original vision, learn about fishing on the East End, and understand how our relationship with the sea has changed over time. Your visit will also include an opportunity to see work by the painter, Claus Hoie, and photographs featured in Men’s Lives: The Surfmen and Baymen of the South Fork by Peter Matthiessen.
Tours are $12 per person for non-members and free for members. The tours in collaboration with the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society (EHTPS) are also free for their EHTPS members. (ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP WILL BE CHECKED)
