i-tri (www.itrigirls.org), the community-based program that fosters self-respect, personal empowerment, self-confidence, positive body image and healthy lifestyle choices for middle school aged girls, is celebrating their Sweet 16 in 2025.
i-tri-Founder and Chief Visionary Officer Theresa Roden completed her first triathlon in 2005, and her experience was emotionally transformative. Inspired by her daughter, who was 12 at the time, and her personal experience, she decided to bring the benefits of visualization, affirmations, nutrition and active lifestyle that the sport of triathlon gave to her, to adolescent girls who could benefit. Roden launched i-tri in 2010 and the original pilot program consisted of 8 middle school girls at Springs School. Since its inception, i-tri has coached 1400 girls across the finish line and now serves more than 200 girls each year in 13 school districts from Mastic to Montauk.
To honor the milestone, i-tri will host their first ever Sweet 16 Gala on Wednesday, June 18 at East Hampton’s LongHouse Reserve. The event will celebrate 16 seasons of empowerment and will honor 16 i-tri Luminaries who have contributed to the success of i-tri throughout the years. A list of confirmed Luminaries includes: Ann Welker and Fred Thiele, amongst others who have been longtime supporters and champions of the program.
In addition to the event, a social media campaign was launched on i-tri’s Facebook and Instagram pages, on February 26, 16 weeks out from the Sweet 16 Gala. The campaign is ongoing and each week highlights memories on Monday (#MemoryMonday); Luminaries on Wednesdays; and fun facts from the last 16 years on Fridays (#FactFriday).
The Sweet 16 Gala will be held on Wednesday, June 18 from 6-9pm at the beautiful LongHouse Reserve. Get ready to experience the true meaning of i-tri and celebrate those who have supported us along the journey.
Enjoy delicious food by Silver Spoon Caterers, Channing Daughters Wine and Springs Brewery brews with fellow supporters of i-tri. There will be a Silent Auction and Chance Auction as well. This in-person event will be a night to remember as we mark i-tri's 16th year of empowering young girls through triathlons. All money raised at this event helps i-tri continue to provide our important programming to the more than 200 girls each year who benefit.
