This special performance of The Jazz Loft @ Southampton Concert Series will focus on the importance of the guitar in the jazz genre. As an instrument celebrated in almost every culture, the guitar is an iconic symbol of musical expression. The history of archtop Jazz guitar luthiers could not have been more concentrated than in New York City and Long Island, specifically in Greenport and Islip.
World-renowned guitar luthier John Monteleone will be giving a pre-concert talk in the Avram Gallery at 5:45 pm about his guitars, his legacy, and the lineage of Jazz guitar luthiers in New York. Monteleone will also be bringing some very special guitars for viewing.
Join John and jazz musicians Pasquale Grasso, Keith Balla, and Ari Roland as the Pasquale Grasso Trio on September 25.
