Jewish Center of the Hamptons Commemorates Holocaust Remembrance Day

Description:

JCOH Commemorates Holocaust Remembrance Day with
Virtual Yom Hashoah Service and Award Nominated Film, 'Denial'

On Wednesday, April 7, we will remember the millions of Jewish men, women, and children, as well as countless others, whose lives were taken during the Shoah, one of the darkest times of human history. Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, teaches us to remember and honor not only the millions of lives lost, but the bravery and strength of those who survived such senseless acts of brutality.

To commemorate this time in history, The Jewish Center of the Hamptons will mark the day with the following events:

5:30pm - YOM HASHOAH SERVICE - Rabbi Josh Franklin and Rabbi Debra Stein, Cantor, will conduct a moving, virtual service to remember those who perished during the Holocaust and those who fought for our freedom. Yellow candles will be available to be picked up outside JCOH, for those who wish to light one in memory of loved ones who perished.

Immediately following the service: Film screening of Denial.
Denial is a 2016 biographical film directed by Mick Jackson and written by David Hare, based on Deborah Lipstadt's 2005 book History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier. It dramatizes the Irving v. Penguin Books Ltd case, in which Lipstadt, a Holocaust scholar, was sued by Holocaust denier David Irving for libel. It stars Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz, Academy Award nominee Tom Wilkinson, Timothy Spall, Andrew Scott, Jack Lowden, Caren Pistorius and Alex Jennings.

This event is free of charge and will be held on Zoom. Those interested in attending can register by visiting https://jcoh.org/denial.
