Temple Adas Israel hosts a LIVE performance of "The Ethics of the Fathers aka The Gangster and the Grandpa". Written and performed by Jesse Bernstein, this powerful one-person show explores morality, legacy, and Jewish identity in America.
Play synopsis:
In the late 1950s, a Jewish mob boss facing pressure from both the Feds and the underworld became friends with his doctor, a former Communist who had broken the Jewish quota at Penn Medical School and became one of the most respected cardiologists in New Jersey. Sixty years later, the doctor's grandson draws on the stories of this unlikely friendship and the teachings of Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Fathers) for a one-person show exploring morality, legacy, and Jewish identity in America.
Q&A session following this LIVE performance actor/playwright Jesse Bernstein.
