On Saturday the 25th of June, WHP will host a talk with Hilary Osborn Malecki, a historian and descendant of one of Wainscott’s founding families. She will present Living from the Land: Wainscott Farming 1875-1900 at the iconic Wainscott Chapel on Wainscott Main Street, from 10 to 11 am. This talk provides a historical overview of late- 19th-century Wainscott life and livelihoods and introduces the evolution of the hamlet from a small, largely self-sufficient farming and fishing community to a busy summer colony. The event is free of charge but donations are encouraged to support the Wainscott Sewing Society’s stewardship of the Chapel.
