Saturday January 8, 10 AM. Seal Haul Out Trail, Montauk (2 miles)
This serpentine trail leads us from tall forests with streams crossed by bridges to the windswept shores of Block Island Sound. Once there, we come upon a wealth of information about the seal migrations past our area, as well as a viewing shelter on the bluff. With luck, seals can be seen swimming to catch fish, or some may be basking on the exposed rocks offshore, weather, tide and waves permitting. Dress for potential wind, and bring binoculars if you have them. Meet by 10 AM on Camp Hero Road, a right turn off route 27 about a mile east of Deep Hollow Ranch stables.
