Saturday Sept 14, 2024, at 10 AM. Moran Studio and Ocean Avenue, East Hampton. (1.5 miles). We begin with a presentation by Mary Mallios of the East Hampton Historical Society at the home of painter Thomas Moran. Mary makes this fun-loving painter, and his life, come alive. (Who knew he was instrumental in Yellowstone becoming a national park?) Afterwards, we will walk the historic Ocean Avenue district where we will see the gorgeous summer “cottages” of East Hampton’s original summer colony and hear the stories of the wealthy families who followed artists like Moran to the Hamptons and introduced the iconic shingle style of building here. Meet 10 AM at the Thomas & Mary Nimmo Moran Studio, 229 Main Street, East Hampton. Note: Parking at the Moran Studio is extremely limited. Park on James Lane (in front of Mulford Farm, or next to Town Pond) or elsewhere. Leader: Irene Daria, 917-854-5296, irene@stepstutoring.com . A collaborative event with the East Hampton Historical Society. Pre-Registration is required. FREE for EHTPS members, $12 fee for non members. https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/MjA5NDU2 or 631-324-6650.
