NYC Art Movement

Description:

The group show serves as an anthropological survey of New York City’s art. Art can potentially play the role of expressing the life of a city, as it is able to tell stories. In a city characterized by variety on many levels, New York City nurtures a cultural mosaic.

Having a background in photojournalism, curator David de Hannay's career was focused around using photography as a sincere method of storytelling. A curator whose life was oriented around protecting human rights through documenting the truth. His curatorial work reflects a passion for storytelling and the potency of the human experience.

40 artists, including Marlene Wallach the Founder of Gleem Beauty, have contributed pieces, creating an account of the richness of New York City’s art scene; one that ranges in styles, mediums, influences and represents the richness of the city. The group show serves the purpose of bringing together local visual cultures - New York City artists within a single space, where they can escape categorizations and simply celebrate multiplicity.
