Old Whalers' Celebrates HarborFest!

Description:

Historic Old Whalers' Church will be celebrating Sag Harbor's HarborFest! There will be a tour and demonstration of our historic Erben Organ at 9:00 AM- with Maestro Walter Klauss-the historic 1845 Henry Erben pipe organ - the oldest working church organ on Long Island. Built during Sag Harbor's whaling era, the organ features decorative whaling elements like carved whales' teeth and blubber spades on its case.
It was built by the renowned firm of Henry Erben, and its original pipework and mechanisms have been preserved through renovations.

At 9:20 esteemed architect and historian Randy Croxton will
be giving an architectural tour of Old Whalers' Church - this National Landmark including a very information slide show.

At 10 AM we will be having a Historical Sunday Service with prayers and
music representing the time period of the opening of the church in 1844-friends and
members dressed in period attire will be presenting a skit about that historic day.

At 11:30 there will be a fascinating tour of the neighboring Old Burying Ground hosted by the Sag Harbor Historical Museum President-Zach Studenroth.
Used for about 100 years, the Old Burying Ground is the resting place
of Sag Harbor's early residents, Revolutionary War Patriots, Whaling Captains,
Portuguese Seamen, African Americans, and the founding fathers of the village.
