The Long Island Invasive Species Management Area (LIISMA) PRISM invites all K to 12th grade students in the LIISMA Region to participate in the New York Invasive Species Awareness Week Poster Contest to showcase their creativity & express their thoughts on conservation & invasive species impacting our area.
Invasive species are non-native plants or animals whose introduction harms the environment, the economy, or human health. The “crimes” of invasive species can include outcompeting native animals & plants, harming human health, damaging agricultural production, & impeding outdoor recreation.

Open to Grades K – 12 students in private, public or homeschools in the LIISMA Region ( Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties).
Submissions will be evaluated in five different age divisions: K-1, 2-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.
The 1st place winner in each division receives a prize and a feature on the LIISMA website & social media during the New York Invasive Species Awareness Week (NYISAW) June 6 – 12, 2022.
