Martin G. McGuinn, author of From Swampoodle to Mellon Bank CEO: An Irish-American's Journey, will be in conversation with Quogue’s own Andrew Botsford.
Meet Martin G. McGuinn, Jr., Chairman and CEO of Mellon Financial Corporation (now BNY Mellon) from 1999 to 2006. His autobiography, tells about growing up in the Philadelphia neighborhood of “Swampoodle” where many Irish immigrants settled in the early 20th century. McGuinn’s book is a proud Irish-American story of rising from modest beginnings to becoming the CEO of one of America’s leading financial institutions.
Andrew Botsford is a writer, actor, director, and former president of the Hampton Theater Company. For 20 years he served as associate editor of The Southampton Press and editor of its Arts & Living section. He hosts The Westhampton Beach Art Center’s Tuesday Night at the Movies and writes extensively about film, theatre, and the arts. His online column at Quaquanantuck continues to inform and inspire the Quogue community.
