The Church is honored to have Reflections in Music return as it continues its innovative classical programming with a concert of music inspired by the art of Henri Matisse. Following the sold out “Reflections on Debussy” performance in February, “Reflections on Matisse” promises to be a fascinating program that will feature a group of distinguished musicians assembled by Artistic Director Bruce Wolosoff. In a nod to Matisse’s passion for playing the violin, the program will begin with violinist-composer Michelle Ross performing an Improvisation and Adagio from Bach’s first sonata for solo violin. West Coast based jazz composer-pianist Jeremy Siskind will perform a set of solo piano responses to the stunning collages from Matisse's Jazz series. The program will also feature the world premiere of Bruce Wolosoff's "3 Fantasies on Charcoal Drawings by Matisse,” scored for clarinet, violin, cello, and piano, in which Mr. Wolosoff (piano) will be joined by Ms. Ross (violin), Clarice Jensen on cello, and Narek Arutyunian on clarinet.
