The Leiber Collection is thrilled to present a one-of-a-kind performance event celebrating the vibrant artistry of Gerson Leiber. On Saturday, August 23, from 4 to 6 pm, artist and puppeteer Kim Profaci will debut her captivating new work ‘Runway,’ bringing Leiber’s dazzling paintings and drawings to life through an imaginative blend of marionettes, movement, and fashion.
In ‘Runway’, exquisitely handcrafted marionettes will strut the stage in stunning recreations of iconic 1970s and 80s fashions, transforming Leiber’s two-dimensional works into a dynamic performance. This unforgettable evening pays homage not only to Gerson Leiber’s creative genius but also to the bold spirit and glamour of the era.
“Runway is a celebration of the intersection of art, fashion, and performance,” says Profaci. “Each marionette embodies the vitality and elegance that Gerson Leiber captured so beautifully in his work.”
The performance will take place at The Leiber Collection, a museum dedicated to preserving and showcasing the legacy of Judith and Gerson Leiber. Guests will enjoy an immersive experience that celebrates the enduring connection between visual art and performance art in a truly unique way.
