Join us for a comprehensive look at every synagogue building, both past and present, in Nassau and Suffolk counties. It took author and photographer Brad Kolodny four years to document synagogues from Great Neck to Montauk and in doing so, he traces the history of Long Island’s Jewish religious life from 1896 to today.
385 buildings were photographed that currently are, or at one time were used as a Jewish house of worship. This expansive compilation of images depicts the functional and aesthetic variation in American synagogue design and tracks the trajectory of popular styles throughout the 20th century.
Cost for nonmembers is $18.00.
