Presenter: Entomologist Jeffry Petracca, the Long Island Aquarium
Even though Long Island pollinators are waiting out the winter, you can still enjoy the company of tropical butterflies and bees at this virtual presentation from the Long Island Aquarium’s Insect Zoo. Join entomologist Jeffry Petracca for a discussion of some basic pollinator biology with a focus on butterflies and bees. Learn some tips for attracting these important insect pollinators to your yards and start planning your pollinator garden for the spring! Setting up a pollinator garden is an excellent seasonal family activity and a great way to learn about local ecosystems. This program is for all ages however some of the content may be of more interest to an older crowd (gardeners and home owners).
