The American Revolution in Southold Township, Long Island: Patriots vs. Loyalists On Wednesday October 9th at 6pm. The Mattituck-Laurel Park District in conjunction with the Mattituck-Laurel Historical Society will present the program: “The American Revolution in Southold Township, Long Island: Patriots vs. Loyalists”. The program will be presented by Edward Marlatt PhD, retired professor from Adelphi University. The presentation will discuss the seven-year siege of Southold Township by the British during most of the Revolution. It will also discuss the Oath of Allegiance to King George III which most Southold males were required to sign causing a great division between Patriots and Loyalists in Southold. It will be held at the Park District Building on Peconic Bay Boulevard at Marlene Lane in Mattituck. Admission is free and donations are accepted.
