East Hampton, NY ---- St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, in its ongoing efforts to provide important services to the communities of the east end, will sponsor an anti-bullying workshop conducted by Operation Respect.
Mark Weiss, the director of education at Operation Respect, will conduct the workshop. Mark was a New York City school principal for 20 years, founding the first alternative high school in the Bronx in 1979, and leading that school for 13 years. He then founded a New Visions 6th – 12th grade school, School for the Physical City, in 1993, heralded in a New York Times Magazine cover story as “A City School Experiment That Actually Works” and leading that school for more than 7 years. Both were New York City public schools. He has conducted anti-bullying workshops at schools, camps, and community centers throughout the United States. Other staff members have worked with parents, teachers and community stakeholders across the globe. Altogether, Operation Respect has conducted more than 50,000 workshops.
Operation Respect was founded by Peter Yarrow of the legendary folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary and Dr. Charlotte Frank, former Senior Vice President, Research and Development, McGraw-Hill Education.
