A special opportunity for teens to practice scientific research at Mashomack and Shelter Island School this summer on Shelter Island. Teens will explore the outdoors and practice sampling & identification skills, then learn state of the art DNA techniques in at Shelter Island School’s biology lab. Research by teens last year contributed to the Citizen DNA Barcode Network database and the National Institute of Health’s genetic sequence database, GenBank.
No experience needed, plenty of guidance and support provided including a Spanish speaking instructor. For teens grades 9-12. Transportation from Shelter Island ferries provided. Free. Come build your science resume, explore new places, make friends and have fun!
