The Intersection of Art and Loss: Guest Artist Jody Cukier—Zoom Pollock-Krasner

Description:

How can we use art to move through loss? Education Coordinator Joyce Raimondo will present Lee Krasner’s abstract expressionist paintings following the untimely death of her husband, Jackson Pollock. Then meet Jody Cukier, a Hampton Bays artist who works with seashells and marine-life fragments as a way “to find beauty in that which is broken.” Jody will describe her artistic journey following the tragic loss of her thirteen-year-old daughter, who was killed crossing the street for a school bus in Los Angeles, and will take us through her creative process of repair. “Behold the soothing rhythms and designs found in nature,” she says.
