Join us for the 2021 Tom Twomey Series Lecture in Local History:
The program will be presented by Genie Henderson, LTV’s longtime archivist; and the author of A Day Like Any Other: The Great Hamptons Hurricane of 1938, in conversation with Brooke Kroeger. The free program will be presented in the Library’s Baldwin Family Lecture Room and simultaneously live streamed via Zoom. The event will include a Q&A period, with questions taken from both the in-person and online audiences. Henderson will take us inside the life of East Hampton town and village via LTV’s programming over the past 40 years and its rare vintage film finds that go back more than a century. The historic ’38 storm and its devastating impact will be a special focus of the evening, along with a quick look at the ambitious new partnership of LTV and the Library’s Long Island Collection, aimed at digitally preserving the best of LTV’s historic archive to make it accessible to all.
