The Peconic Land Trust Presents: The Importance of Growing Native Plants: A Guide for Your Landscape

Description:

"Grow native plants" has become a rallying cry among horticulturalists, organic farmers, and those who are climate aware, but many people may not understand why their presence in the home landscape is so critical. The Peconic Land Trust is hosting a free Zoom program to talk about the food that is provided to wildlife and pollinators from native plants, their lower impact on the environment, and offer a variety of suggestions for attractive trees, shrubs, perennials and grasses that will look good in East End gardens.

Panelists include Rick Bogusch, Director of the Peconic Land Trust's Bridge Gardens, Brian Smith, Vice President of Long Island Native Plant Initiative, and John Witzenbocker, beekeeper and owner of Sag Harbor Honey. The panel will be moderated by Jessica Damiano, contributing garden writer to Newsday.
