Using material in his garden as his subject matter, artist Roy Nicholson has created a long-running series based on plants that are beautiful but dangerous. He will show examples of his “Toxic Garden” paintings and prints, and will discuss his more general approach to nature-derived imagery. Born in Cambridge, England, Roy immigrated to the US in 1974. Since settling in Sag Harbor, New York in 1977, he has exhibited widely in this country and abroad, and his work is in many public and private collections. His public works include mosaics and glass pieces for Union Station in Los Angeles and the Hicksville Long Island Rail Road station.
