MM Fine Art is pleased to present two new exhibitions opening Saturday, June 19 in Southampton. "Women Artists of the Hamptons: 1945 to the Present Day" and "Henry Koehler: Collages of the 1970s". There will be a joint opening reception, Saturday, June 19, 6 to 8 PM.
"Women Artists of the Hamptons" highlights a selection of some of the most accomplished women artists of the East End both from the past and still working today, including works by Perle Fine, Mary Abbott, Elaine de Kooning, Lee Krasner, Cornelia Foss, and many others.
In our second gallery exhibition space we will be exhibiting "HENRY KOEHLER: Collages of the 1970s". While widely acknowledged to be one of the finest living sporting artists in the world, Mr. Koehler was not limited to that genre as is evident by this collection of work. This series of collages was first shown at Elaine Benson gallery in 1979 and was only recently rediscovered in the artist’s attic after his death in 2019. A strong and cohesive body of work, they not only demonstrate a sophisticated mastery of composition, shape, color and texture, but they also read as a scrapbook of a well spent life, containing personal mementoes, matchbooks, letters, scraps of artwork and fabric.
