Jewish Center of the Hamptons invites you to binge-watch “The Plot Against America,” HBO’s acclaimed new six-episode TV mini-series. Then join us on Zoom each Tuesday for six weeks at 5:00 p.m. to share your thoughts, insights, feelings, and (for some) childhood memories.
The miniseries is based on Philip Roth’s provocative novel (2004), winner of the James Fenimore Cooper Prize for Best Historical Fiction. This is a captivating story of an alternate American history that takes place during World War II, as told through the experience of a working-class Jewish family in Newark. They endure the political rise of Charles Lindbergh, the aviator-hero, who defeats FDR in 1940 to capture the presidency on an anti-war “America First” platform, then insidiously advances and enables anti-Semitism and begins transforming America into a pro-Hitler Nazi proxy state.
Each session will focus on one episode of this six-episode series, beginning with Episode #1 on Tuesday, June 9.
