Sunday February 20, 10 AM. Brooks-Park: The Intersection of Art and Nature. (1-2 miles)
Join with East Hampton Trails Preservation Society and visit the late abstract expressionists James Brooks & Charlotte Park property on 11 unspoiled Springs acres. Explore the land and hike the adjacent trails, a true intersection of art and nature. We'll learn about Brooks and Park's impact in the abstract expressionist movement that thrived in Springs in the mid-20th century. There is a mission here, an opportunity to reimagine the residence, cottage and two art studios on this Town owned property. A dedicated management committee is in place, and will be here to discuss the vision of this restoration into the Brooks-Park Arts and Nature Center to be enjoyed and celebrated by a diverse cross section of our residents. The Brooks-Park Arts and Nature Center can become part of an unparalleled group of historic artists' homes and studios with public access in Springs: Pollock-Krasner, Duck Creek Farm, Leiber Collection. A not to be missed, important community event. Meet 10 AM on Eastside Court off Neck Path, Springs. Leader: Irwin Levy, call/text 516-456-1337, irwintlevy@gmail.com, ehtps.org, brooks-park.org.
