The Burden of Ego
The human ego evolved as adaptations generally do, because when we are young it promotes individual survival and success with the opposite sex, and hence reproduction. Once our reproductive years are over, the ego becomes more and more of a burden and less and less of an advantage, until at some point in our lives it is more trouble than it’s worth. John will use poetry and story to illustrate an insight that came to him a year ago, which you may find useful in your own spiritual life.
