East Hampton’s beloved Town Crier, Hugh King, will explore what might have happened if Carl Fisher, the man who developed Miami Beach, had had his way with Montauk. Many of his iconic buildings still stand today — the Montauk Manor, the Tower, and the Yacht Club, to name a few. But a series of unfortunate events caused Fisher and his Montauk Beach Development Corporation to go bankrupt, ending his plan to turn our hamlet into the “Miami Beach of the North.”
Hear all about it at Carl Fisher’s own summer residence at 44 Foxboro Road in Montauk. Free admission; donations gratefully accepted.
