Spring 2020 Writers Speak Wednesdays Launches With Ayana Mathis

Stony Brook Southampton’s MFA in Creative Writing and Literature announces the launch of their Writers Speak Wednesdays for the Spring with author Ayana Mathis on February 26th.

Ayana Mathis is a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop and a recipient of the 2014-15 New York Public Library's Cullman Center Fellowship. The Twelve Tribes Of Hattie, her first novel, was a New York Times Bestseller, a 2013 New York Times Notable Book of the Year , an NPR Best Books of 2013, and was chosen by Oprah Winfrey as the second selection for Oprah's Book Club 2.0. She currently is an Assistant Professor of English and Creative Writing at the Iowa Writers' Workshop.

Feb 26th – Ayana Mathis
March 11th – MFA Faculty Reading featuring Cornelius Eady, Neal Gabler, Paul Harding, Ursula Hegi, Amy Hempel, Christian McLean, Susan Scarf Merrell, Roger Rosenblatt, Julie Sheehan, and Lou Ann Walker.
April 8th – Simeon Marsalis and Dawnie Walton
April 15th – Caitlin Mullen
April 22nd – Kiley Reid
April 29th – The Southampton Review Summer/Fall 2020 Issue Launch Party
May 6th – MFA Student Reading featuring students of the Stony Brook Southampton MFA Program

The event is free and open to the public. Receptions will begin at 6:30 pm and readings will begin at 7:00 pm in the Rakoff Theater in the second floor of Chancellors Hall (239 Montauk Highway, Southampton, NY, 11968).
