“Artists & Writers” at Almond

Almond Restaurant continues the “Artists & Writers” series on Monday, January 9, at 7 p.m. with Andrina Wekontash Smith, a Black-presenting Native American storyteller, writer, performer and educator whose work often explores the complexity of racial identity/indigenous identity. The cost of the event is $59 and includes a three-course family style meal and a glass of wine or draft beer and gratuity.

Andrina Wekontash Smith is the first Native American to sell a series to network (ABC), and is currently developing the Native comedy under Kerry Washington’s Simpson Street. She has written for the Facebook app for its “Women’s Herstory” celebrating the untold stories of women changemakers, while “The Darker Red Road” (a piece she wrote and performed) garnered over three million views. She’s a 2022 NYFA grant recipient, and completed residencies at both Guild Hall and The Watermill Center. Her written work and essays have been featured in Edible’s East End and Native Max Magazine, and WildSam’s East End Edition. Currently, in addition to writing, she teaches a voice technique that emphasizes singing not being about hitting the right notes, but conveying accurate story. Story is found at the route of all she does.

Almond is at 1 Ocean Road in Bridgehampton. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 631-537-5665. For more information visit almondrestaurant.com.

Pot Pies on Shelter Island

The Eccentric Bagel on Shelter Island is excited to announce the addition of comfort food to its menu, featuring pot pies made in-house that come in three delectable flavors — chicken, short rib and lobster.

Customers can preorder these savory dishes for pickup and bake them at home for a warm and satisfying meal. In addition to the new pot pies, The Eccentric Bagel is also offering homemade soups such as tomato Florentine and chili in bread bowls made with its signature bagel dough.

“We are always looking for new ways to bring joy and comfort to our customers, and we knew these pot pies were going to be a hit,” said Darryn Weinstein, owner of The Eccentric Bagel. “We use the freshest ingredients and put a lot of love into each and every pot pie, and we can’t wait for our customers to taste the difference.”

The pot pies are available for preorder and pickup during the off-season at The Eccentric Bagel, 25 West Neck Road. For more information or to place an order, visit eccentricbagel.com or call 631-749-5363.
