Slow Food East End and Noah’s Restaurant’s will be hosting a spring “Spotlight” dinner, to highlight “Slow Fish” on April 30 at 5:30 p.m. After a cocktail reception, Chef Noah Schwartz will be serving a four-course, wine pairing dinner spotlighting local and sustainably sourced seafood.

Slow Fish, a Slow Food International Campaign has launched a variety of initiatives that promote sustainable fishing, understanding the state and health of our oceans and waterways and recovering the traditional wisdom of fishing communities.

Chef Noah and his wife, Sunita, opened Noah's in 2010. He has been lauded by Best Chefs America in 2012 and 2013. Mr. Schwartz plans his menus by season and what is available and they are focused largely on seafood.

The "From Farm to Fork" motto is from sourcing from a large number of local producers and vendors for food and wine. Noah's Restaurant was one of the first recipients of the Slow Food East End Snail of approval in 2015.

Appetizers include Deep Roots Farm crab stuffed deviled eggs, Peconic Bay scallop ceviche, cHarissa spiced local squid skewers and smoked local cod rillettes on chick pea bellinis. Oysters are served three ways, either Matt’s Peconic gold oysters with lemongrass mignonette, Mike’s Montauk pearl oysters grilled with pomegranate BBQ sauce and Sean’s Greenport oysters roasted with pesto and parmesan.Entrees include seared Shinnecock sea scallops with a spring vegetable risotto and sweet pea puree or pan roasted sea robin with orient mashed potatoes, Sep’s grilled asparagus and Cab Franc beurre rouge. For dessert, enjoy a honey Panna cotta with Chambord poached North Fork rhubarb and spiced pistachios.

The evening costs $95 per person for Slow Food members and $110 per person for non-members. The price includes food, wine pairings, taxes, gratuities and a $10 per person general donation to Slow Food East End. With limited spots available, place your reservations at slowfoodeastend.org by April 27.

Noah’s Restaurant is located at 136 Front Street in Greenport. For more information, visit slowfood.com or chefnoahs.com.
