On Saturday, May 15, from noon to 4 p.m. author Stacy Dermont will be in the garden of the new Sage and Madison boutique at 31 Madison Street, Sag Harbor to sign copies of her cookbook “The Hamptons Kitchen,” which she co-wrote with Bridgehampton’s Hillary Davis. The book is also available at area bookstores.

“Stacy came in shortly after we opened the shop,” says owner Chris Coffee. “She brought us handmade gifts all winter, and flowers from her nearby garden all spring — so we’re delighted to kick off our new service with her beautiful book! It feels like coming home.”

The boutique serves freshly brewed SEY Coffee and iced coffee from the Brooklyn micro roastery. Patrons can enter the brick-paved courtyard on the west side of the Sage and Madison boutique, order their beverages, including iced tea, lemonade, and sparkling water and packaged sweet treats through a tiny window, and take a seat in the patio garden.

Sage and Madison occupies a former workshop in the 18th century complex of buildings at the northeast corner of Sag Harbor’s historic Sage and Madison Streets. The property was the home of the late jazz musician Hal McKusick. The boutique opened to the public in October 2020, and after extensive redecoration, Coffee has opened the main house as a hostelry featuring two suites, both named for other famous former residents of the home — the Hatfield Suite for actor Hurd Hatfield, star of the film “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” and a resident from 1951 to 1972, and the Hall Suite named for the original occupant of the house, the Reverend Daniel Hall.
