Iron Chef and restauranteur Michael Symon is passionate when it comes to barbecuing and live-fire cooking — whether it’s grilling ribeyes, smoking lamb ribs, baking pizza in a wood-fired oven, or just cooking hot dogs on a stick over a campfire.

Symon will bring that same heat, outside of the kitchen, during a brunch cookout on Sunday, August 5, from 3 to 6 p.m. at The

Backyard Restaurant at Solé East Resort, as part of the Montauk Summer Series.

He will share recipes from his Cleveland restaurant Mabel’s BBQ, and favorites from his newest cookbook, “Playing with Fire.”

Guests will receive a complimentary copy of the cookbook and dine on a menu featuring spicy grilled shrimp toast with avocado, Mabel’s pork ribs and brisket, grilled skirt steak tacos with pickled red onions, beer can chicken, grilled corn and tomato salad, broccoli salad, and JW potatoes — Mabel’s style.

Wine and beer pairings will also be provided, and Symon’s son, Kyle Shanahan, owner of Grindstone Donuts in Sag Harbor, will serve up post-barbecue donuts.

The restaurant is located at 90 Second House Road in Montauk, and barbecue admission is $75. For more information, call (631) 668-2105 or visit soleeast.com/restaurant.
