Known for farm fresh eggs, the “Little Bit of Everything” stand is excited to feature its free range chicken again this season. Stop by the Noyac location for a full bird, specific cuts or even delicious sausages. It doesn’t get more locally sourced than this.
For vegetables, string beans and zucchinis will be kicking off the beginning of their season this week. Other greens like lettuce, spinach and kale are also available, as well as the farm’s delicious herbs. If you’re interested in fresh fruit, hand-picked raspberries will be featured at the stand through July.
At 1060 Noyac Road, North Sea Farms is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day.
Look out for squash and sugar snap peas at “Mushroom Dave’s” stand in Bridgehampton, the next few weeks. With a little luck, cherry tomatoes will begin kicking off as well.
Local strawberries are on their way out, so if you see them, buy ’em!
In addition to fresh vegetable juices made on-site daily, Open Minded Organics is expanding its beverage menu to include the “cha’tte,” a superfood drink feature chaga wild mushrooms, honey, Ceylon cinnamon and hemp milk. Reminiscent of coffee, tea or chai, the drink is “unique in its own way,” says farmer Dave Falkowski.
Other add-ons to this year’s offerings include a bone broth made from locally raised, grass-fed beef, with no added sodium. They are also growing the lion’s mane mushroom, a regional variety that they discovered on an old tree in Hampton Bays. After collecting the so-called “scallop of mushrooms,” they cloned it and are now growing it organically. Mr. Falkowski recommends searing the ’shroom quickly on the grill.
Located at 720 Butter Lane in Bridgehampton, Open Minded Organics is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week.
Stop by the picturesque yellow roadside stand in East Hampton for the first week of Bhumi Farms’ crowd-pleasing Persian cucumbers. Farmer Frank Trentacoste also recommends checking out the beautiful heirloom lettuces and sugar snap peas, whose season is half-way through.
Broccoli rabe, arugula and mustard greens are winding down their season this week and will be back when the cooler weather comes this fall.
This year, Bhumi Farms announces it is officially a nonprofit stand, with 80 percent of produce being distributed to the local food pantry and 20 percent going to donors through CSA and farm stand sales.
Bhumi Farms is located at 131 Pantigo Road, just outside of the East Hampton village center. The farm stand is open Friday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
