The East Hampton Historical Society’s annual Summer Lecture Luncheon on Thursday, August 8, at 11 a.m. will present guest speaker Alex Papachristidis, an acclaimed interior designer, drawing from his latest book, “The Elegant Life: Rooms That Welcome and Inspire.”

Papachristidis will profile a variety of his most arresting projects, according to the historical society, including a luxe, modern beach house decorated in gold, silver, and white; a Manhattan home that has a vivid lavender-and-blue palette; and a colorful “bohemian” apartment incorporating mid-century furniture.

Each project presents the creative ways he makes spaces versatile to share with friends and family — from cozy seating areas to games tables.

“Someone who’s truly elegant doesn’t wear their elegance, if you know what I mean,” Papachristidis told The Express News Group during an interview last year. “It’s just who they are. It’s not a pretense. It’s not a put on. And what I try to do is create interiors that feel relevant to where they are and who’s living them.”

The luncheon will take place at the Maidstone Club at 50 Old Beach Lane, East Hampton. Tickets start at $250 per person. Call the East Hampton Historical Society at 631-324-6850 extension 1 or email at info@easthamptonhistory.org. Tickets can be also be purchased online by visiting the Events page on the East Hampton Historical Society’s website at easthamptonhistory.org.

Proceeds will benefit the ongoing restoration, collections and exhibition projects of the East Hampton Historical Society.

PSEG Long Island Marks Utility Scams Awareness Day

Scammers impersonating utility companies routinely target ratepayers, threatening them with immediate shutoff of their service if they don’t send money immediately. Some scammers will call, and others may even show up on doorsteps. In observance of Utility Scam Awareness Day last week, PSEG Long Island shared advice to help ratepayers avoid falling victim to common scams. “The theme of this year’s Utility Scam Awareness Day is ‘Anytime, Anyone, Anywhere,’ and we want all customers to stay vigilant against utility impostor scams,” said Lou DeBrino, PSEG Long Island’s vice president of customer operations. “It may be an advanced digital scam, an ... by Staff Writer
