Genius Loci, the 7,000-square-foot Montauk home of Rick and Alicia Zarou Scanlon and imagined by Sag Harbor-based Bates Masi + Architects, has been named a “Record House 2012” by Architectural Record Magazine.

The home, completed in July 2011, is one of nine houses selected throughout the world to receive this year’s award, according to information provided by Architectural Record. The residence, which is comprised of two cedar-shingled ranch houses connected by a bridge, sits on an approximately 3½-acre site and has views of the Atlantic, Lake Montauk and Gardiner’s Bay.

Since 1956, Architectural Record has dedicated one issue annually to feature “Record Houses,” innovative residences that push design boundaries. The “Record Houses” can be viewed in the April 2012 issue or online at archrecord.com.
