The Madoo Conservancy has announced it’s list of speakers for Madoo: TALKS Winter 2014.
The series kicks off on Sunday, February 9, with Catie Marron, who will discuss “City Parks: Public Places Private Thoughts.” The talk will include a visual and poetic journey from London to Brooklyn, Calcutta to Chicago, and Paris to San Francisco, with photographs by Oberto Gili and the words of celebrated writers and personalities in Ms. Marron’s new book
On Sunday, February 16, Stefano Aluffi-Pentini will discuss “Visiting Italian Gardens.”
In anticipation of Madoo’s first international travel expedition, Count Stefano Aluffi-Pentini will discuss the highlights of the trip to historic gardens and villas in Tuscany, including Villa di Centinale, Villa Medici, Villa Gamberaia and La Foce, among many others.
On Sunday, February 23, photographer John Hall will speak about the “Private Gardens of the Hudson Valley,” using images from his new book, which was written by Jane Garmey. The talk will be illustrated with garden designs by John Brookes, Edwina von Gal, Oehme & Van Sweden, Deborah Nevins, Wayne Winterrowd & Joe Eck and Michael Trapp.
On March 9, designer John Danzer will discuss “The Exterior Decorator.” During his talk, the Munder-Skiles founder will share his experiences in developing outdoor furniture designs.
All talks will begin at noon and will be held in the Winter House Studio. A reception will follow each event. Tickets are $30, or $25 for Madoo members, with discounts given for those who purchase series tickets in advance. Seating is limited and reservations are suggested. To learn more, visit madoo.org.
