Mainstage Auditions Announced

Attention, East End actors.

Bay Street Theatre will hold Equity Principal auditions for this year's mainstage season—Conviction," "Travesties" and "My Life is a Musical"—and Literature Live's production of "To Kill a Mockingbird," on Saturday, March 8, from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. at the Sag Harbor theater.

“The summer of 2014 at Bay Street is a season of art and revolution,” said Scott Schwartz, artistic director of Bay Street Theatre. “As the new artistic director of Bay Street and also as a new member of the East End community, I am deeply committed to making this theater a home for local artists. I hope everyone who is interested in working with Bay Street comes to these auditions, and I look forward to this opportunity to continue to get to know our artistic community.”

All actors should prepare a brief monologue under two minutes. Those who would like to be considered for musical productions should prepare 16 bars of music to sing. An accompanist will be provided. Bring a photo and résumé, stapled together, to the audition.

"Conviction," a play by Carey Crim and directed by Scott Schwartz, will make its world premiere on May 27 and stage through June 15, with contract dates starting May 5. The production is seeking three men and two women.

"Travesties" by Tom Stoppard will follow, directed by Gregory Boyd and starring Richard Kind—best known for portraying Dr. Mark Devanow and Paul Thomas Lassiter on television sitcoms "Mad About You" and "Spin City," respectively—from June 24 through July 20, with contract dates beginning June 2. Four men and three women will be cast.

"My Life is a Musical" by Adam Overett will round out the mainstage season, with contract dates starting June 30 and staging from July 29 through August 31 under director Marlo Hunter. The musical will need four men and one woman, with an ensemble of two men and two women.

Contract dates for "To Kill a Mockingbird" are from October 20 to November 29. Eight men and three women will be cast.
