Balancing simplicity with original flair is a creative challenge for many. Esha Soni’s Montauk property acts as proof that this challenge can be met with sophisticated zest.
Born and raised in India, Soni followed her natural talent for fashion design, which swiftly took her to Manhattan, where she studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology. In addition to building her creative foundation in the United States, another prominent chapter that shaped her fashion philosophy was the year she spent in Florence, Italy.
There, she had an awakening — and with it came “the idea behind craftsmanship and doing things beautifully with integrity,” she said.
Soni’s focus lies in accessories — luxury handbags and jewelry — and that shines radiantly in her own company, Esha Soni, a fusion of bold architectural elements with a feminine touch. Prior to launching her business, her rich archive of experience included leadership positions at Michael Kors Collection and Ralph Lauren.
With these achievements under her belt, there is no doubt that her artistic instincts were clearly active when designing her Hamptons home. Just as she balances structure and softness in accessories, Soni brings the same sensibility to the layout and mood of her interior design.
White walls were an intentional choice to act as a canvas for the flourishing sunsets that beam and radiate throughout the house, hence the choice of minimal to no artwork. The floorboards continue the visual rhythm of the white walls and were painted to enhance the theme.
“The most spectacular thing about the house is the view over the bay,” Soni said. “Keeping it so open and light was a necessary decision.”
Exposed beams in the main living area were sourced from an old barn, adding a layered architectural dimension to the elevated ceiling and maximizing its potential. The open-plan kitchen, dining and living areas offer a fluid entertaining style and deliver a spacious practicality in the heart of the home.
Restoration Hardware was a reliable go-to for key interior selections, providing a casual, grounded feel to the floorplan. This particular element is honored by the layered rugs, adding warmth and depth to the space.
Quartzite countertops run through the whole kitchen and the angular lines of the free-standing island have a distinctive geometry that echoes the white herringbone-tiled backsplash. Serena & Lily bistro stools add to the space’s welcoming energy.
An antique telescope originally from India brings an international flair, mixed in with wicker sofas and graffiti art in the lower level. Both the primary and the guest rooms embody a calm sophistication and have found a way to achieve minimal design with a hearty soul.
Soni’s Montauk retreat captures a sense of relaxed clarity, where each element contributes to a quiet, intentional atmosphere. Natural light moves through open rooms framed by pale surfaces and soft textures, creating a setting that feels grounded and unforced.
Furnishings are chosen with restraint, offering comfort without excess. Subtle accents and personal pieces bring a lived-in quality that feels genuine rather than styled. It’s a home that prioritizes space, light and quiet expression, true to Soni’s creative eye.
