PSEG Long Island Offers Rebates on Electric-Powered Pool And Lawn Equipment

Brendan J. OReilly on Jun 23, 2020

PSEG Long Island is offering rebates for homeowners who are investing in backyard equipment this summer as they spend more time at home than ever before.

Energy efficient pool heaters and pumps, lawnmowers and lawn equipment can save customers money on their electric bills, while reducing their carbon footprint, according to the utility company.

Rebates of up to $650 are available for the most energy efficient pool pumps and heaters. PSEG Long Island notes that a pool pump can be a home’s second largest energy user, but Energy Star-certified model uses up to 65 percent less energy than a conventional model.

Rebates of $25 to $50 are available for electric-powered lawn equipment, such as a chargeable lawnmower, blower, or trimmer.

“By endorsing certified lighting, dehumidifiers, clothes washers and dryers, variable speed pool pumps and other products, we have been able to reap about 150,000 mega-watt hours (MWh) in energy savings for our customers,” PSEG Long Island director of energy efficiency Michael Voltz said in a statement. “This has made a significant impact in reducing overall electric demand on Long Island and in the Rockaways.”
