PSEG Long Island is offering Google Nest smart thermostats for as little as $9.99 after rebates — about 93 percent less than retail price — to make it easy for ratepayers to reduce their heating and cooling costs.
With a smart thermostat, customers can create a heating and cooling schedule from their smart device that can help them remain comfortable and save money, according to PSEG, and the more a customer saves, the more the demand is reduced, which lowers bills and supports the environment.
A smart thermostat can save a household 10 to 12 percent on heating and 15 percent on cooling, according to PSEG.
The offer includes the Nest Thermostat for $9.99 or the Nest Learning Thermostat for $69. The retail prices are $129.99 and $249, respectively.
Both thermostats can be programmed from a smartphone app or computer, allowing the user to set a schedule and lower or raise the temperature from anywhere. Both can also be set to automatically adjust when the user leaves the house and can be voice controlled with Google Assistant.
The Nest Learning Thermostat programs itself based on user behavior to create an automatic heating and cooling schedule and can be paired with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. It can send an alert if an HVAC system does not appear to be running properly and can also provide reminders of when it’s time to change air filters or perform maintenance.
Purchasers are responsible to pay sales tax on the price prior to rebates, and flat-rate shipping is $10. Order at psegliny.com/marketplace.
The promotion continues through July 10.
