Proving that sustainability isn’t just a word that reflects the green movement, but rather also defines the word “endurance,” one of the longest running house and garden tours on the East End will be held next week.
The 42nd annual “Bridgehampton Community House and Garden Tour,” sponsored by St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Bridgehampton, is planned for next Thursday, August 5.
And just because this house tour is mature, that doesn’t mean that it will be staid. In fact, in addition to showcasing four unique homes—one each in Water Mill and Bridgehampton and two in Sagaponack—this year’s event will also feature a cutting-edge “Reflections on Hamptons Style” symposium, led by Traditional Homes “Designer of the Year” (and Press Newsgroup columnist) Marshall Watson. The powerhouse panel discussion will include views from visionary architect Preston T. Phillips, prominent landscape architect Jack Delashmet, top interior designer Eve Robinson and Garden Design Magazine “Golden Trowel” award-winner Victoria Fensterer.
The homes on view on the tour this year will include a grand shingle-style residence in Water Mill; a traditional Hamptons home in Bridgehampton; an ocean-view estate in Sagaponack and a stately, yet family-friendly Colonial in Sagaponack.
The 42nd annual “Bridgehampton Community House and Garden Tour” will be held on Thursday, August 5, from 1:30 to 5 p.m. The “Reflections on Hamptons Style” design presentation is planned that day from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church Parish House in Bridgehampton, seating is limited for the panel discussion.
Tickets for the tour are $50 in advance and $60 on the day of the tour; admission to the presentation only is $30; and tickets for both the tour and presentation are $70. All proceeds benefit local charities. For more information, or to purchase tickets, call 537-1527, visit stannschurch.tripod.com, or stop by the church office or the Candy Kitchen in Bridgehampton.
